The Unconventional Nap Preference of One-Eyed Jack at Subotica Shelter

When, at the beginning of 2017, a cat lover from Subotica received a call from the veterinary clinic where a street cat had been brought who had been hit by a car, she did not think twice, got into a taxi and went to the clinic. The people who found the cat and brought it to the vet wanted to put it to sleep because of its condition.

However, the veterinarians assessed his condition and were by no means in favor of putting him to sleep, but since they did not have accommodation for him, they called a friend of the employees at Cat Shelter Felix. Jack was bruised and battered, but his biggest injury was to his eye, which unfortunately was lost and the eyeball had to be removed.

Jack underwent emergency surgery, the postoperative course went well, he was tested for FiV and FelV and was ready for adoption. Since at that moment it seemed that he was born under a lucky star, a girl from the surrounding town called for him. Acquaintance with the new surroundings went great, Jack lived in the apartment, his guardian kept getting pictures of him and then the call came: ” Good day, we are moving to Denmark in three days, come and pick up Jack.”

On the same day, he was returned to an environment where there are already plenty of cats that did not accept him very well.

His guardian, considering the bad experience with fostering, and knowing how well cats with disabilities are taken care of in Felix, timidly asked if there might be a place for him in the asylum until a new foster.

After only two days, Jack gained new best friends in the asylum who love him just the way he is, wonderful and inimitably beautiful and cuddly, and the story of the new adoption was forgotten. He has been with them for 6 years, he is a wonderful cat who, as you can see, does not choose where to lay his head when he takes a nap.“Might as well use a rock,” thinks Jack.
