A couple was traveling along a North Carolina highway last week when they noticed something strange.
Up ahead, a discarded suitcase was lying on the road, and it seemed to be moving.
As soon as they slowed down, they noticed it; a little nose just about peeking from a bag corner that had been unzipped. They were shocked to discover four lovable pups inside the luggage.
The pair drove to Guilford County Animal Services after collecting the puppies. When they claimed to have discovered a bag full of puppies, a member of the shelter staff who encountered them in the parking lot first didn’t believe them. It seemed so absurd until he eventually saw the four young faces.
The staff member told The Dodo, “We all expressed shock that someone would do that.”
The puppies, all of whom are female, lacked confidence in their new carers, maybe fearing that these outsiders would also abandon them. Since moving into the shelter, they have gradually learned how to adjust, and the kind rescue team has been showing them what real love is like.
The shelter representative added, “They are very scared and shy. The medical team says they haven’t had much human socialization, so our staff is interacting and playing with them.”
The puppies were given travel- and luggage-related names by the Guildford County Animal Services rescue team: Tumi, Samsonite, Stowaway, and Carion (as in “carry on”).
The puppies will be placed up for adoption and given the chance to find their permanent families once they have undergone the necessary medical examinations and socialization.
Although these pups were once abandoned, they will never have to fear being forgotten again because to the quick eyes of two Good Samaritans.
