NIMR launched the LRSOV long range security and reconnaissance vehicle

EDGE Entity NIMR, a leading manufacturer of combat-proven wheeled military vehicles, unveiled an upgraded version of its Long Range Surveillance Operations Vehicles (LRSOV) at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2023). The upgraded LRSOV features a high-strength rollover protection system, front and rear under-run capability, adaptive roof mounting, and removable and foldable roof structure for ease of transportation. Delivering exceptional off-road performance, the LRSOV is especially suited to long-range reconnaissance missions typically undertaken by Special Forces.

Abri du Plessis, CEO of NIMR, said: “As we continue to modernize our range of vehicles to meet evolving operational requirements, we are delighted to showcase our LRSOV at IDEX 2023. Signing this deal with our long-standing partners in Algeira demonstrates not only the quality and performance of our new LRSOV but also EDGE and NIMR’s commitment to increasing national exports in line with the UAE Leadership’s directive. Our upgraded LRSOV is lightweight, powerful, and mobile for traversing all terrains, and we are confident that it will fulfill the Algerian Land Forces’ operational requirements and strengthen their defense capabilities.

Following the delivery of 1 ‘golden unit’ vehicle which performed exceptionally well during multiple trials and tests, NIMR signed a follow-on contract to the leading armored vehicle manufacturer, building and delivering 10 LRSOVs by the end of 2023. The NIMR AJBAN Long Range Surveillance Operations Vehicle (LRSOV) is an open-top 4×4 long-range reconnaissance vehicle designed for use by Special Forces. Lightweight and capable of accessing all terrains to better help troop transportability, the vehicle can be customized to accommodate a range of user-specific equipment.

The AJBAN LRSOV is based on NIMR’s multipurpose platform, developed to meet various military requirements from utility vehicles to fully protected tactical vehicles. The LRSOV seats 4 crew with an optional 5th seat, providing all-round situational awareness and self-defense from a high-mounted heavy machine gun ring and gun mounts at all crew positions. The vehicle can optionally be fitted with ballistic and blast protection. The modular configuration of the vehicles allows for multi-mission variants to suit the user requirements if needed.
