Sharapova inducted into Tennis Hall of Fame, 3-day celebration
Sharapova, 37, has joined legendary doubles duo Bob and Mike Bryan in the Tennis Hall of Fame. And the trio look set to mark the occasion in a very special way. The Tennis Hall of Fame will host a huge party at its Newport headquarters from August 21 to 23, 2025. A variety of events are planned for the party, including meet-and-greets, tennis fashion shows, live concerts and even the first-ever Celebrity Pro Classic. The event will see a host of tennis legends team up with celebrities to play in a mixed doubles tournament.
Sharapova and the Bryan twins will join 267 other Hall of Fame inductees, representing 28 countries, in the 2025 group. Kim Clijsters, president of the International Hall of Fame, said: “I am honored to welcome Maria Sharapova and Bob and Mike Bryan into the Tennis Hall of Fame. Beyond their historic achievements on the court, the players have had a profound impact on the game and inspired generations of fans around the world. We look forward to honoring them in Newport next year.”
Sharapova previously topped the Tennis Hall of Fame Fan Vote in her first year on the ballot. The Fan Vote is one of two steps in the Hall of Fame election process. In addition to the Fan Vote, an official voting group consisting of tennis journalists, historians and Hall of Fame members casts votes.
Sharapova made her name on the world stage when she won Wimbledon at the age of 17 in 2004. The beautiful Russian tennis star then won the US Open, Australian Open and two Roland Garros titles in her illustrious career, becoming one of only ten female tennis players to have won all the Grand Slam singles titles.
Sharapova’s successful career has made her rich. She has been named the world’s highest-paid female athlete by Forbes for 11 consecutive years thanks to her “huge” earnings on the court and lucrative sponsorship deals. Outside of tennis , Sharapova has started a successful business empire, including the famous candy brand Sugarpova. In her personal life, Sharapova is happy with her fiancé Alexander Gilkes. They have a son together, born in July 2022.
