Kristaps Porzingis, a recently acquired forward/center, has agreed to a two-year extension with the Boston Celtics that will keep him with the team through the 2025–26 season and pay him a total of $96 million.

The club withheld financial details, but the 2017–18 All-Star’s reps told ESPN that the two–year agreement is worth $60 million. The 2024–25 season will mark the start of the extension.

In a three-team trade last month, the Celtics acquired Porzingis from the Washington Wizards, sending guard Marcus Smart to Memphis in the process. To complete the transaction, Porzingis chose to exercise the $36 million player option on his contract for the next season.

For the Wizards last season, Porzingis, who will turn 28 in August, averaged a career-high 23.2 points per game. In seven seasons with the New York Knicks (2015–18), Dallas Mavericks (2019–22), and Wizards, he has averaged 19.6 points and 7.9 rebounds.

Along with All-Star colleagues Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics are counting on him to play a prominent role for the team next season.

You are there physically, and you are moving to a new level intellectually. I believe my efforts were successful. Last season, all the work I put in off the court to keep healthy paid off. I looked at my game, at how I could be more effective, and just really evaluated myself.

I believe I have some terrific, high-level years ahead of me because my body is growing and reaching that age helps.
