A bloke who spent £12,500 on a costume to turn himself into a very realistic-looking dog has now started locking himself in a cage at night.

Toko, from Japan, spent the eye-watering sum transforming himself into a rough collie and uploads videos of his bizarre escapades to his YouTube channel.

In an introductory video he explains: “I became a rough collie because I wanted to be an animal. From now on I’m thinking of uploading videos at my own pace.”

And in his latest video, on the channel called I Want To Be An Animal, he is bizarrely filmed walking – on all fours – into a huge dog cage.

He appears to really struggle to fit into the cage, which is clearly not made for human-sized animals, but eventually backs himself up into it.

The person recording the video shuts the cage doors, trapping Toko inside.

He just barely fits, however, as his nose . . . or snout . . . is right up against the door.

The bloke inside the costume then starts pawing at the door, before the lights in the room are eventfully turned off so that he can go to sleep.

But he doesn’t, because he just starts barking until the person filming him turns the light back on, returns and unlocks the cage to let him out.

The video also shows him being petted, chasing after a dog toy someone throws at him and then walking around with it in his mouth.

And then, in what can only be described as one of the oddest things this reporter has ever seen, a harness and lead is put on the giant man dog who proceeds to start rolling around on the floor in a very excited fashion.

The YouTube video comments were full of people expressing their love for the man dog.

One wrote: “I got sad when you were put in the crate, but then I saw you got tummy rubs and a walk so everything is okay!!

“Love you Toco!

“Keep living your dreams!”

And a second posted: “You are the cutest dog in the world.

“If you could walk, run like animals, then I would not even know that you are a person.”

A third added: “Toco, you are such a cute border collie and I’m proud to support you.”
