Elevating Comfort and Performance: Discovering the 2022 GAC GS8

The 2nd generation GAC GS8, first unveiled in Shanghai, China in July, 2021, is the flagship SUV ushering a new era of hi-tech luxury motoring experience.

With new design and technology developed on GPMA platform, the all-new GS8 is now even better positioned to offer an experience of prestige and comfort to our customers.

The all-new exterior is designed with a new form language, giving the GAC GS8 a more hi-tech, elevated and precise impression. The well-defined proportion with upright front and squared off shape lend a majestic impression from any angle.

The taillight, named “Ruby Lights”, features geometric diamond-like shapes, creating a uniquely exquisite lighting impression. The front grille has evolved to a parametric grille called Victory Wings.

Featuring a quad matrix layout with embedded LED lights and retractable covers, the headlights, named “Eyes of Conquest”, are instantly recognizable, signature GS8 feature.

The body side is defined by clean and taut surfaces focused on precision and volume complimented by well defined crisp lines. Overall, the all-new GS8 has an unmistakable presence that commands respect.

“The first generation GS8 left a precious legacy in Chinese auto industry and had a far-reaching influence on the market with its bold and iconic design. When it comes for the second generation, we absorb the essence of the first generation while evolving it to the next level.

All New GS8 is a new milestone of our production models. “said Fan Zhang, VP of GAC R&D and head of design.

The interior design of the all-new GAC GS8 is all about simplicity, elegance and high quality. It features a luxurious interior with plush quilted leather seats and an abundance of premium trim details and soft-touch materials.

The large 14.6-inch touch screen combined with 12.3 inch digital cluster emphasizes the technology and connectivity of the all-new GS8. High fashion aesthetics of the all-new GS8 interior is complimented by the concept of turning the vehicle interior space into a “mobile living room”.

With a flexible seating layout combination , the second row can turn into a “chaise lounge”, providing the third row passengers the comforts of home.

The all-new GAC GS8 features various hi-tech and advanced driving assistance technology for enhanced comfort and safe driving experience. The AR-HUD system, a first for the GS8 model range, allows navigation and other driving information displayed in driver’s line of sight of the road.

The GAC Intelligent Pilot, including adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition system, forward and rear collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane change assist, automatic emergency braking, automatic parking, and more, provides an added layer of comfort and safety.

The available ventilated front seats and center armrests provide enhanced comfort in hotter climate. A significantly expanded usage of high-strength steel, of which 17% is made of hot forming ultra high-strength steel, increases the vehicle structural rigidly by 25% for improved vehicle dynamics and passive safety

The all-new GAC GS8 has a length of 4,980 mm, width of 1950 mm and 1,780 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2920 mm. It is available with two powertrain options – the “Mega Wave Power” 2.0T GDI engine with torque of 400 Nm, or a hybrid powertrain featuring THS (Toyota Hybrid System) power unit.

The GAC GS8 is a mid-size crossover SUV produced by GAC Group under the Trumpchi brand in China and the GAC Motor brand globally. The first generation was launched in 2016, and spawned a slightly smaller 5-seater variant dubbed the Trumpchi GS7.

The Trumpchi GS7 received a facelift in April 2020 and was renamed the Trumpchi GS8S. The second generation Trumpchi GS8 was unveiled in 2021 and was longer, wider with a longer wheelbase compared to the first generation model.

GAC Group launched their GAC Motor brand and the GS8 SUV, in Russia, on December 9, 2019. In Lebanon it is sold by Bazerji Motors Sal and comes with 2.0 engine and 4WD and back up camera and parking sensor. GAC Group was initially slated to launch the GS8 in the United States by late 2019, but, announced delays to their sales plans to the first half of 2020, during the 2019 Detroit Auto Show.

On May 22, 2019, due to the worsening China-US trade tensions, the parent company of Trumpchi brand: Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., decided to indefinitely postpone their US market plans.
