James considered retiring at the end of the 2016–17 season. For the first time in his professional life, he felt inadequate.

Soon later, he announced his return and explained that rekindling his passion for the game through coaching his sons throughout the summer.

The majority of the Lakers’ squad from their Western Conference final loss to the Denver Nuggets has returned, and they’ve added a few vital players like center Christian Wood.

James and company are considered frontrunners to win the championship and will kιck off their season on October 24 in Denver.
