Rescue dog helps police find missing 5-year-old boy

Dogs can be incredibly loyal and caring companions, especially when it comes to keeping young children safe. There have been numerous cases where children who have gone missing have been found with their faithful dog guarding them. A recent example of this occurred when a missing 5-year-old boy was rescued unharmed by his protective German shepherd. The Houston Police Department received a call on April 2 about a little boy walking alongside train tracks with only his dog by his side.

Sergeant Ricardo Salas from the police department shared an incident where he found a 5-year-old boy with Down syndrome wandering about half a mile away from his home. He noticed that a German shepherd named Alejandro was accompanying the young child to protect him. The sergeant also added that as he took the child away, Alejandro followed them. Witnesses confirmed that the dog stayed with the boy until they were found. Sgt. Salas mentioned in his tweet that the dog acted as an angel and protector for the child. He believes that the dog instinctively understood that the boy should not be wandering alone, hence followed him to keep him safe. The sergeant stated that Alejandro was very protective and kept his eyes on the child at all times.

Despite having the assistance of law enforcement officials, Alejandro remained watchful and kept a close eye on his owner. According to Salas, the dog followed him everywhere without making any noise or showing signs of fear. When Salas put the boy in the car, Alejandro even jumped into the driver’s seat with him. Shortly after, the officers received another call which revealed that the child was actually a missing boy named Jose. Jose’s mother, Jasmine Martinez, explained to Click 2 Houston that she and her son were sleeping, and when she woke up, she discovered that Jose had wandered away.

Fortunately, everything turned out fine as the little boy only suffered from minor scrapes and bruises. The family is thankful and unsurprised that their loyal pet dog, Alejandro, acted as a protector when Jose was in danger. According to Samantha Muñoz, Jose’s sister, Alejandro has always been an overprotective dog since they adopted him as a puppy. It was no surprise to them that he stayed by Jose’s side throughout the ordeal. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the family would not face any charges, but the mother is taking precautionary measures by installing child safety locks to avoid similar incidents in the future.
