Since his first game with Sporting, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 702 goals in 952 games with all of his clubs. He is now the top scorer in the history of men’s football. Today, we’re going to talk about the top five teams he’s liked playing against the most. Now, without further ado, here are the five teams that have given up the most goals to the phenomenon:
5. Celta Vigo
Ronaldo has only played Celta Vigo 13 times in his career, but he has scored 20 goals against them. Ronaldo scored three hat-tricks against Celta while playing for Real Madrid, twice in La Liga and once in the Copa del Rey.
Cristiano Ronaldo played against Celta in La Liga nine times and in the Copa del Rey four times. Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer scored 15 goals in La Liga, helping them win eight games and tie one. He scored five goals in four games in the Spanish Cup, but only won once. He had two losses and one draw.
4. Barcelona
Barcelona is one of Real Madrid’s biggest rivals, and Ronaldo has played against them 34 times in his career. So far, the star player for Portugal has scored 20 goals against them in all competitions.
Ronaldo has played Barcelona six times in the Champions League. He has done so three times while playing for Manchester United, twice while playing for Real Madrid, and once while playing for Juventus. He didn’t score in any of United’s three games. They won the 2007-08 semi-final 1-0 on aggregate, but lost the 2008-09 final (2-0). At Madrid, he lost the 2010-11 Champions League semi-final 3-1 on aggregate without scoring.
His only two goals against Barcelona in the Champions League came when he was playing for Juventus in the group stage of the 2020-21 season. The Bianconeri won 3-0 at Camp Nou because of what he did.
Ronaldo played against Barcelona 18 times in the Liga, 5 times in the Copa del Rey, and 5 more times in the Spanish Super Cup while he was with Real Madrid. He scored nine goals in 18 La Liga games, 10 of which he lost, four of which were a tie, and four of which he won. He scored five goals in the Spanish Cup, where he won twice, lost once, and tied twice.
Finally, in the Super Cup, he scored four goals in five games, winning twice, drawing once, and losing twice.
3. Getafe – 23 goals
Ronaldo’s incredible record of scoring goals is best shown against Getafe, whom he has played 14 times and scored 23 goals against.
His total includes three hat-tricks and five braces against Real Madrid’s local rivals, and he only failed to score against them twice.
2. Atletico Madrid – 25 goals
Many people are under the impression that Ronaldo has scored the most goals against Atletico Madrid, but there is a very solid explanation for why this is the case.
The majority of the time, Ronaldo was able to put Atletico Madrid to the sword, which is significant given that Atletico is Real Madrid’s biggest city rival and a competitor for the La Liga crown. In spite of the fact that he scored two hat tricks against them when he was playing in La Liga, the competition in the Champions League was the one in which he most loved competing against Real’s neighbors.
Ronaldo scored a hat trick in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals in the 2016–17 season, leading Real Madrid to victory by a score of 3-0 and advancing the club to the championship match. Then, in the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the 2018–19 season, he scored three more goals to eliminate Atletico Madrid from the tournament.
Even though Juventus were down 2-0 after the first leg, a Ronaldo-inspired comeback in Turin helped the Italian club through to the quarterfinals. The comeback even included a reenactment of Diego Simeon’s controversial celebration from the previous match.
1. Sevilla – 27 goals
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 27 goals against Sevilla in just 18 games, making them his favorite team to score against. Ronaldo has scored five hat-tricks against the team from Andalusia. All of his hat-tricks against them have come in La Liga.
During his nine years at Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo competed against Sevilla 16 times in La Liga, once in the UEFA SuperCup, and three times in the Copa del Rey. Ronaldo had a total of 25 goals scored for him in 15 La Liga matches, with the team winning 11 and losing four.
The other two goals he scored against Sevilla came in a matchup that took place during the 2014-2015 UEFA SuperCup season. The goal scoring heroics of Cristiano Ronaldo helped Los Merengues to a 2-0 triumph. The Copa del Rey semi-final match between Madrid and Sevilla in 2010-11 ended with Madrid winning 3-0 (on aggregate). Ronaldo was unable to score for Madrid in this match.
