The magical moment of a chained dog seeing the sea for the first time

The poor german shepherd dog screams like a person when he sees ocean first time.

Herschel the German Shepherd’s first five years of life were quite tough. The poor canine spent much of those years chained up in a dirt-filled backyard. When rescuers found him, the dog’s teeth were whittled down—he was so eager for freedom, he had tried to eat through the metal chain.

Ultimately, his former owner did the right thing and surrendered Herschel to Michelson Found Animals. The animal rescue offered the dog the medical treatment and care that he sorely required.

Over the next six months, Herschel was adopted and returned to the shelter multiple times. Since the dog had spent his first several years chained up without any socializing, he had problems adjusting to his new homes.

Michelson Found Animals wanted to get Herschel into a loving, caring home. So they called out to Rocky Kanaka, host of Dog’s Day Out. This show takes canines who’ve had tough lives and provides them a nice day out.

For Herschel’s fun day out, Rocky purchased him tons of delectable food, including a yummy doggy cupcake. Rocky also Herschel took him to play in the snow, and he liked it!

One Dog’s Day Out viewer totally fell in love with Herschel, and she wanted to adopt him. She lived in Los Angeles, and so Rocky and Herschel went on a road trip to his new home.

While they were on the road journey, Rocky stopped at a beach so Herschel could see the ocean for the first time in his life. Rocky and Herschel strolled into the sand, and Herschel started barking in pure excitement. Rocky was overjoyed to see how happy this sweet youngster was!

Rocky and Herschel played on the sand and in the surf. Rocky had a wide grin on his face as he and the dog played in the warm water.

“He loves it and I won’t let him go cause he might swim off to San Diego for all I know,” Rocky said.

Herschel is now happily living with his mom in Los Angeles, and he’s able to go to the beach as much as he likes. This sweet puppy can’t enough of the ocean, and after everything he went through, he deserves to spend as much time in the water as he’d like!
