Two Navy Aviators Are Included in the NASA Team Traveling to the Moon

NASA has announced the names of the four crew members who will be taking part in the Artemis II mission, a 10-day flight around the moon set to launch in late 2024. This mission is a significant step forward for NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to establish a sustainable presence on the moon by 2028 and eventually send humans to Mars. The Artemis II mission will pave the way for future manned missions to the moon and beyond.

The four crew members selected for this historic mission are Victor Glover, Christina Koch, Reid Wiseman from NASA, and Jeremy Hansen from the Canadian Space Agency. Each member of the crew has an impressive background in space exploration and has been through rigorous training to prepare for this mission.

Victor Glover is a NASA astronaut who made history as the first Black astronaut to board the International Space Station for a long-duration mission. Christina Koch is also a NASA astronaut who recently set a record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman. Reid Wiseman is a NASA astronaut who previously served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station. Jeremy Hansen is a Canadian astronaut who has trained for multiple space missions, including a potential Mars mission.

The Artemis II mission will be the first time humans have flown around the moon since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The mission will test the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System rocket, which will be used for future manned missions to the moon and Mars. The crew will also perform experiments and gather data to help advance our understanding of the moon and its resources.

In conclusion, the Artemis II mission is an important milestone in NASA’s Artemis program, and the crew members selected for the mission are all accomplished astronauts with impressive backgrounds in space exploration. Their successful completion of this mission will pave the way for future manned missions to the moon and beyond.
