A report from Fichajes says that Manchester United are keeping an eye on Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez.
The 25-year-old was tipped to move to the Premier League at the start of this season but Ajax tried to keep him. However, things may change when this season ends.
A report from Fichajes claims that Man Utd could consider an offer of around 50 million euros for the Mexico international. Fichajes have now brought back the name of Ajax’s Edson Alvarez, who was linked with both United and Chelsea last summer.
“We are talking about the Mexican player Edson Álvarez, for whom Manchester United would be willing to offer nothing more and nothing less than 50 million euros to get his services.
“However, the transfer of Edson Álvarez to Manchester United will not be easy, since Ajax will not let one of its key players leave at any price.”
The report mentions that Borussia Dortmund have earmarked the Mexico international as the potential successor to Jude Bellingham should he move to Real Madrid in the summer.
Edson Alvarez is a defensive midfielder who can also play as a centre-back. He will be a quality addition to the Red Devils because of his versatility when he can pair with Casemiro or can play in the center of defence.
The plus point of the deal is that Erik ten Hag worked with the player during his time as Ajax coach and Ten Hag knows the Mexican’s strengths very well.
According to The Athletic, Phil Jones has turned down the club’s offer of gratitude. Besides, captain midfielder Harry Maguire is also said to be no longer in the Red Devil’s plan.
