When Rex was transferred to the animal sanctuary, he met “girl” the goose Geraldine and fell in love with her at first sight.
At first, the animal caretakers here thought that Rex would bite Geraldine to death when she dared to approach Rex’s territory. But all unexpected, from the moment “meeting” Geraldine, Rex became gentle and did not appear to be aggressive at all. Since then, Rex and Geraldine have always been together. Even Geraldina was allowed to sleep with Rex every night.
Sheila Brislin, who runs Bridgwater, Somerset, said: “Every morning they enjoy a meal together. It’s sweet to see them like that.”
The reserve staff said: “In the past, every time a bird strayed into Rex’s area, it was bitten to death or chased away, but since Geraldine arrived, Rex has completely changed and is no longer aggressive. as before”.
“Every time we took Rex for a walk in the woods, Geraldine came by. They are very affectionate, Rex always cares and takes care of Geraldine and they often snuggle and sleep together every night.” What is even more unbelievable is that between Geraldine and Rex there is also “jealousy” when Rex’s old friend Vera appears (she is also a Shepherd hound).
Every time she sees Vera approaching Rex, Geraldine gets angry. The goose often fiercely rushes and attacks, making Vera very scared and becomes “afraid” when approaching Rex.
A seasoned conservation official said: “I have been doing rescue work since 1997, have seen many kinds of animal behavior, no matter how strange, but I have never seen it. anything like this”.
