Unveiling Dwyane Wade’s Fashion Journey: How His Father Inspired His Love for Style and Immaculate Manicures

Style and self-care are things that Dwyane Wade is naturally drawn to.

In a recent interview with fashion and lifestyle website Highsnobiety, the 42-year-old retired NBA player revealed that he took after his father, Dwyane Wade Sr., and the other males in his family when it came to dressing and self-care.

“My fаtҺer Һаs аlwаys bee𝚗 а self-suffιcιe𝚗t ι𝚗ԀιvιԀuаl. My u𝚗cles lооkeԀ аfter о𝚗e а𝚗оtҺer,” WаԀe remаrkeԀ. “ι’ve аlwаys k𝚗оw𝚗 tҺаt’s wҺаt ι wа𝚗teԀ tо Ԁо: ι wа𝚗teԀ tо be о𝚗e оf tҺоse well-grооmeԀ, cleа𝚗-sҺаve𝚗, well-grооmeԀ me𝚗.”

He went on, “I’ve been getting my nails done since 2007” in reference to his self-care practice.

Wade acknowledged that he pays attention to people’s attire when he first meets them. “I’m all about looking at people’s details because it reveals a lot about how they take care of themselves.”

The father of four and businessman takes great pride in his appearance.

“Me and my body, we love putting on clothes,” he stated. That’s not something I fiddle with. It’s ingrained in both my lifestyle and my personality. I therefore don’t only wear clothes. I donned that s—t.

Wade clarified that when the NBA changed its game-day dress code to “business casual” in the early 2000s, he and his teammates started to take their attire more seriously.”My fashion sense was able to elevate as I got older, more at ease, and as fashion became more acceptable. We also started attending more fashion shows,” he remarked.

He mentioned in the interview some of his favorite game-day fashion moments, such as the bright pink pants he wore at a press conference and the Gucci capri pants that made local news.

“To golf these days, folks don pink pants. It is insignificant. He was proud of the chances he took and asked, “But it was a big deal at the time, right?”The Oscar-nominated producer exclusively discussed with PEOPLE in February what it’s like to have more time to devote to his self-care now that he’s retired for 2019.

“I think in retirement, I’ve become a better student of my mind and body,” he stated. “It’s really been a learning experience for me.”
