Victor Wembanyama Admits: “I’m Still a Kid”

Victor Wembanyama says he’s ‘still a kid ready to learn’ after admitting he ‘didn’t know what he was doing’ in disappointing Spurs debut in Vegas

After a poor first game with the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, Victor Wembanyama said, “I’m still young and inexperienced.”

The No. 1 pick in the draft got his first start for his new NBA team during the Las Vegas Summer League.

However, the night of shooting proved difficult for him. He shot poorly (2-13) but still managed to pull down 8 boards and score 9 points. After the Spurs’ 76-68 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, the 7-foot-4 phenom said, “I didn’t really know what I was doing.”

And after 24 hours, he’s still as “kid” as he was before.

I can’t play one more NBA game. Now I know everything there is to know. The trυth is that I was completely clueless. I have no idea what I’m doing for the upcoming games, either. Time will pass, and eventually we’ll be prepared for the season.

I insist on my youth. I’m simply prepared to learn.

Wembanyama has been met with huge, adoring crowds at every turn of his NBA trip so far, and he even got into a fιght with music singer Britney Spears. Wembanyama’s debut in Las Vegas attracted a full house on the first three days of Summer League.

There are a lot of people wearing Spurs gear,’ she said. On Saturday, he remarked, “I even see a French team jersey.”

“The crowd went wild every time I got the ball yesterday,” he said. It’s all the care and attention that people give you that does it. As a new player in the NBA, I believe that the fans’ support is the finest thing they can do for me.

The best way for me to show my appreciation for the support over the years would be to win some championship rings, so that I can show them off to my supporters.
