Toru Ueda, an engineer from Tokyo, Japan had three face-to-face meetings with the makers, Zeppet, before they crafted the ultra-realistic suit in seven weeks.

“I’m free of human relationships. All kinds of troubles, related to work and other things – I can forget about them.”

He told the company, that makes costumes for television and movies, he wanted to spare no expense to have the most realistic, but practical, suit he could get.

“When I look in the mirror, I see a wolf, and that is very moving,” he said.

“I’m not a werewolf — that’s a kind of monster, and I am not a monster.”

Another Japanese man, named Toco, spent two million Yen – which equates to £12,480 – on a human-sized collie costume last year.

Toco said he has always dreamed of “becoming an animal” and now dresses up as a dog a few times a month to live his childhood fantasy.

Speaking about the opinions of his peers, Toco told the Mirror in December: “I rarely tell my friends because I am afraid they will think I am weird. My friends and family seemed very surprised to learn I became an animal.”

“Since childhood, I have had this unspecific fantasy of becoming an animal. I wonder whether it was a desire for transformation,” Toco explained.

Toco says he chose a collie because it’s his “favourite” breed of dog, and purchased the realistic costume from Zeppet.
