The orphaned baby kangaroo kept clinging to the rescuer’s hand after being rescued

Indi is an orphaned baby kangaroo. She was rescued and now lives in The Kangaroo Sanctuary of Alice Springs in Central Australia. And since she’s an orphan, this baby hasn’t really felt love. So she gets her fill with cuddles. Lots and lots of cuddles!

The handlers are tasked to help take care of the kangaroos. Which means also giving Indi her daily dose of affection. And she gives it all back!

All you need is love.

And Indi won’t stop hugging one of the sanctuary’s handlers. Naturally, the employee gives the joey all the love she’s demanding. This is just one of the perks of the job so you may consider applying. And moving to Australia.

Now the handler eventually tries to get Indi of her arm but the little kangaroo is not having it. She hangs on tight, not wanting to stop the cuddles. Can’t really blame her. Poor orphaned baby!

These people are great. Their mission is “Animals come first“. Simple and straightforward. They will rescue, rehabilitate, and release baby kangaroos back into the wild when possible. Those who can’t be released in the wild remain in their 188 acre sanctuary.

You can donate and support their work.

They also allow people to directly sponsor a kangaroo. A kangaroo of your choosing! So if you see a joey like Indi who needs extra help, reach out to the staff and they’ll be more than happy to assist you.

Kangaroos are herbivores. These large marsupials can live up to 23 years in the wild. They can travel at 56 kph and leap more than 9 meters in a single bound. They are Australia’s own. Can’t find them anywhere else.

These mammals are cute but are not to be messed with. They will punch, kick, and bite so if you find yourself in front of an angry kangaroo, better bring your best martial arts moves!

But Indi? All she will want is affection. This joey loves her handlers so it’s great that she gets to stay with them. At least let’s hope so. I mean just look at her embrace that man’s hand, eyes closed and all! You’ll go awww.

Why hop and jump when you can hug and love?

Female kangaroos are pregnant from 21 to 38 days. The baby can be as small as a bee and is guided into mom’s pouch where it gestates for another 120 to 450 days. Babies do everything in that pouch too.

Feed, urinate, poop, and whatever else they need to do. Mothers can give birth to up to four offspring but is very rare.

Indi would sleep in that man’s arms if she could. Her face says it all. This is heaven for her and is the closest to physical affection she’ll ever get. Why she’s orphaned, we’ll never know. It is heartbreaking when you think about it. Babies should not lose their moms. And vice versa. But it’s a good thing she found her way in the sanctuary.

Lucky joey. This happened five years ago so Indi is an adult by now. Let’s hope she’s big, strong, and healthy. And that she still loves cuddles with her human friends!
