Residents of an Arizona border city couldn’t believe the sudden visit of a bear.
The Arizona Department of Fish & Game said the bear appeared Sunday in downtown Douglas.
More daring than your average bear, the animal has climbed two power poles and even sat on a power line at one point.
State wildlife officials, Douglas police, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, and the US Border Patrol closed US Hwy 191 and attempted to get the bear to leave.
Authorities said the seemingly unfazed bear eventually climbed down and ran away, sending about two dozen bystanders fleeing.
No injuries have been reported.
Game & Fish officials say this is the time of year when people in the area need to be on the lookout for bears.
