With its bulging skull, elongated body and claw-like legs, it looked like something out of the sci-fi movie Alien.
The discovery of this ‘tiny alien body’ in Russia is said to have confused scientists trying to determine what it is.
Local media said two residents found it next to the Kovashi River in the Russian town of Sosnovy Bor, which was built in the 1950s to serve the Leningrad nuclear power plant.

An anonymous scientist was quoted as saying: “It appears that the body was neither a fish nor a bird – the creature had a mysterious skull and no neck or wings.”
Biologist Yegor Zadereev, from the Institute of Biophysics in Krasnoyarsk, also said he could not tell what it was.
He said: ‘Extensive studies are needed to determine what type of organism or organism it is.’
However, alien hunters believed it was of extraterrestrial origin.
