Minuscule Pumuckel Seeks Record as World’s Shortest Horse

A diminutive pony named Pumuckel, standing at just 20 inches tall, is making a bid to be recognized as the world’s smallest horse. This miniature equine is looking to unseat the current record holder, a 21.2 inch tall horse named Bombel, and take the title of world’s tiniest stallion. If measurements confirm Pumuckel’s height, this petite powerhouse will hold the new record.

Pumuckel, a miniature Shetland pony, lives on a farm in Germany where he believes he is much larger than he really is. But his confident demeanor belies his extremely small stature. At just a fraction over two feet tall and weighing in at 55 pounds, everything about Pumuckel is tiny, from his compact legs to his soft muzzle.

However, his owners say he has a huge appetite for such a small horse. Pumuckel enjoys noshing on hay throughout the day, fueling his lively and plucky personality. Despite his diminutive dimensions, Pumuckel loves running laps around his corral and interacting with humans and other animals on the farm.

Pumuckel’s current record attempt reminds us that great things can come in the most compact of packages. As he awaits official word on whether he has now been bestowed the world’s smallest horse title, Pumuckel continues living his pint-sized but still equine-sized life. And he serves as proof that diminutive doesn’t mean limited.
