When we talk about draft horses the first thing that comes to mind is strength and power. Non-horse people don’t really know about what draft horses can do but as I watched the video I remember a friend of mine saying to me when he first saw a Belgian Draft horse, “Look at that muscle! If 5 of them came together and you hitched your truck to them they’d surely pull it.”
The video posted by Illinois State Police District 10 Pesotum on Facebook shows some serious horsepower as a team of 10 Belgian Draft horses pull and move a building and what amazes us more is that there is no straining. They just seem to be walking quietly down the road doing what they are bred to do. No one wouldn’t believe it if they didn’t see it but these horses make it clear to everyone that they are really powerful as they pull the two-story building along the road.
I’ve had the pleasure of being in remote camps with outfitters who have one or two of these horses. To see how they can move a heavy load like it’s a toothpick is crazy but you’ve got to see it to believe. Watch the video and share your opinions with us!
