Creed’s Triumph: From Tragedy to Finding a Home Filled with Love.

Life for one sweet little brown tabby kitten began harshly. But this determined baby fought all his battles and won. His troubles started in mid-June when he was hit by a car. While one woman cared enough to rescue him, she didn’t take him to a vet. She did, however, post his updates for several days on Facebook until someone finally persuaded her to give him to someone else so the poor little kitten could get the attention he needed.

Once he was brought to the emergency vet, it became immediately clear that this kitten would have a long road to recovery. The staff realized it was too late to save his back leg and it would need to be amputated. His front leg was badly wounded as well. When the clinic released him he was immediately brought to Purrfect Cat Rescue, Inc., a nonprofit cat rescue in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

“We quickly agreed to care for him and sent him to the specialist,” says Deb, who owns the rescue. “Dislocated right rear hip and knee, now days later, needed amputation. Road rash but no fractures on the right front leg. Breaks our heart to even imagine this. This past Monday, he had surgery. Came back to us on Wednesday.”

Creed Became Very Lovable.

“He is just the sweetest brown tabby,” Deb writes in her Facebook post. “So trusting and loving. Like we’ve known each other forever. His big brown eyes trying to be grateful through his pain. Trying to learn to balance with his new body while healing.”

But just a couple of days later, Creed was rushed to the emergency vet again, but not because of his leg. This time, his poor little front leg was terribly infected.

The kitten was dealing with a very high fever, caused by the infection.

“A few more tests, new meds, and more painkillers tonight, we are hoping that tomorrow is a better day for Creed.”

But this kitten is one determined little fighter. All his vital signs soon returned to normal and his surgical wound was healing nicely. The infection in his front leg was still being stubborn but Deb was hopeful the antibiotics would work.

“There is some concern about future mobility,” she wrote in one post. “But for now, we are taking the tiny victories day by day. We will continue to fight for our Creed.”

Just a few days later, Creed was released from the vet’s office, and folks at the rescue gave him a huge welcome home.

Creed Finds Kitty Friends

Within days this little ball of kitten energy was having the time of his life with his new feline friends at the rescue.

“He’s doing so well,” Deb writes. “He is still having some issues with his front leg that was hit. He has healed beautifully where his leg was amputated. He’s getting stronger and more confident every day. He has been hanging in the main room with the other kitties during the day while we are there but goes back into his room at night. He is making kitty friends and seems happy. He’s such a fighter and we love him very much.  To those who have followed his story, asked about him, donated and supported… we thank you so much.”

And indeed, in the video below we can see what a little trooper he is.

But Creed still needed to undergo physical therapy — for a few months, at least. Along the way, he received so much love, well away from the dangers of cars and busy streets. And exploring his new world. This little guy wasn’t letting anything get in his way. Poking his way among stairs, those three little legs are sturdy and carry him wherever he needs to go.

Then This Sweet Boy Found His Furever Home

He came through his physical therapy with flying colors and on January 14, he was in his very own home.

After so many obstacles, Creed now has two humans who love him and a warm comfortable home where he will always be safe.

“He is a miracle kitty,” Deb writes. “The obstacles he has overcome comes from his strength and will. He’s incredible and it was time for him to go home. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in his well-being and healing… his rescuer who brought him to us, vets, techs, his therapist, shelter volunteers, visitors, donors, supporters, Chewy, and my sister Di who is always in agreement with me when a kitty needs us the most. It’s what we do. Thank you to Matt, Katie, Ethan and Charlie for waiting patiently, loving him, and giving Creed the forever home he deservers! I may have cried but my heart is so happy!

 

What a beautiful story and happy ending for little Creed. His tough battle is over and he continues to be a happy, beautiful kitten who is now surrounded by kind, caring people. His life will be filled with warm laps, lots of pets and cuddles, toys, and favorite treats.
