Willie Ortiz is a 76-year-old man, a veteran, and scrap metal collector from Hartford, Connecticut. He has been raising stray cats in his area for 22 years, without missing a day.
Regardless of rain, snow or freezing cold, he still goes out and picks up scrap metal to pay for cat food and supplies. Willie takes care of them, feeding them every night as well as spraying and neutering them so the stingray population doesn’t grow out of control.
Every morning, Willie drives around collecting scrap to sell, and every evening he leaves home with cans of sardines and cat food, feeding the cats and checking on their health. The cats he cares for are healthy and well-nourished.
Even though his job is ‘difficult’, Willie says it is his life and it makes him truly happy. Willie said he will continue to feed the cats as long as he can.
Currently, he is raising 16 colonies of feral and fe.ral cats, a total of 68 cats, every night, 365 days a year and has never missed a night in 22 years. He makes sure they get what they need to have the best life possible.
This man has a heart full of love and compassion. And he’s very dedicated and very disciplined. A person like him will make the world a better place.
