The father spends $1,500 a month to rent an apartment for his cat to live in

The American father did not want to bring his daughter’s two cats home, so he spent money to rent an apartment for them to live in.

According to CNBC, that special father is Mr. Troy Good, 43 years old, an interior designer working in Silicon Valley. The two lucky cats are named Tina and Louise.

Good’s 18-year-old daughter couldn’t bring Tina and Louise to live with her in the dorms, as she started her freshman year of college. Good also doesn’t want cats in his new apartment, because he’s worried they will conflict with his fiancée’s dog.

So Good asked David Callisch, a friend of his with a rental house, if the cats could stay in the 37 square meter apartment behind Callisch’s house and Callisch agreed.

“Basically, I’ve got two special tenants, and they’re great and pretty quiet. The only problem is they cause odors in here,” Callisch said. In Tina and Louise’s apartment there is no kitchen, but there is a bathroom, shower and TV.

Every day, Callisch and Good come to feed the cats. Whenever she has a break from school, Good’s daughter will visit the cat. The girl plans to bring them back to school after leaving the dormitory.

The cats have no idea how lucky they are. San Francisco is one of the most expensive real estate areas in the United States. The average house price here is about more than $1 million/unit and people need to earn about $274,000/year to own an average house. If you choose to rent instead of buying, after 35 years, the amount you have to spend can be up to $2 million. Due to high housing costs, last year in San Francisco there were up to 26,000 homeless people

Callisch also admitted the story was funny and felt bad about wasting living space on animals: “It’s difficult because there are so many homeless people and there’s so much income disparity here.” But one person cannot solve those problems.”
