The harm done to this poor cat went far beyond target practice!

A one-year-old Florida cat had been found limping and blinded in one eye after being repeatedly shot by a BB gun.

Thankfully, the kind-hearted person who found Comet rushed the shot-up cat to Helping Paws Humane Society, where staff immediately went to work removing pellets from the severely wounded cat’s body. However, this poor cats injuries went far beyond being used for target practice.

“He was limping because his leg was infected and broken in four different places,” shelter worker Karen B. told Waggle. Sadly, the gravity of Comet’s wounds left vets with no choice but amputation.

Amputation surgery is no easy task, and for this reason extremely expensive, especially for a not-for-profit rescue trying to make ends meet rescuing animals in the midst of a pandemic. Luckily for Comet, Animal Rescue Site followers latched onto Comet’s struggles and helped to fund the surgery he desperately needed.
