Out and about one day Good Samaritan comes across a litter of clearly very sick kittens.
Very underweight, they were covered in fleas, dehydrated, and had badly infected eyes. Wanting to make sure mom was not nearby the Good Samaritan waited all night long but she never came back so she reached out to a local LA rescue for help.
Only three weeks old Lyra and her brother Panalaimon (Pan) were welcomed into their foster home where they received a bath to rid them of the fleas that were draining them dry.
Both kittens, especially Lyra, put up a highly vocal protest at the undesirable situation they found themselves in, not knowing they were safe and in good hands.
Terribly underweight and practically anemic the siblings were placed in an incubator to help them regulate their body temperatures and put them on the path to recovery ASAP.

Lyra was not happy at where she found herself and must have thought things had gone from bad to worse!
She voiced her displeasure in her usual loud fashion accompanied by a variety of pitiful faces that tugged at her foster moms’ heartstrings.
Being overly dramatic was something the tiny feline was clearly very good at!
“Oh, Lyra, The first few days, these babies were VOCAL with lots to say about their new living arrangements and feeding schedule,” said foster mom Pei Chiu. “
“…clearly Lyra feels she’s too big for the nice, cozy bubble prison she’s in (at least at first).”
Even Lyra had to calm down after a few days, and she did as she began feeling better.
Both she and her sibling were given eye drops, fluid therapy, and supplements to aid in their recovery.
“After a few days of settling, no more fleas, cozy blankets, always warm, and most importantly, always knowing they will be consistently fed – they don’t feel the need to feel so panicked and vocal.”
“You can tell they feel safe now, happy, and just focused on rolling around for belly rubs, exploring everything, and playing with each other.”
As they began to heal the cuteness only became cuter
And this cute pair seemed to know it too!
“Pretty Little Lyra. This girl comes over multiple times a day just to climb up, give me a kiss and a snuggle.”
“She also loves her brother so much, and just about always goes to hold him when it’s time for a nap, pure sweetness.”
Before Chui knew it her babies had grown up, they were spayed and neutered and found their forever home with ease.
“For fosters, adoption day is bittersweet. I couldn’t be happier knowing they will have the best life with the most loving family. And I couldn’t be more proud that they’ve grown into the most loving, well-socialized, silly, go-with-the-flow kitties. I will miss these two very much. Love you Lyra and Pan, have the bestest life,” she said
