After nearly a year and a half of being separated, an adventurous cat named Forbes has finally returned home straight into the arms of his loving owner.

In October 2020, Forbes snuck outside of his home in Grand Rapids, Michigan undetected. His devastated owner, Amy Weber, searched everywhere for her beloved tabby cat to no avail. She posted missing flyers, contacted shelters, and held onto hope that Forbes would safely return.

536 days after he first went missing, Forbes miraculously reappeared on the morning of April 5, 2022 right on Amy’s doorstep. As soon as Amy opened the front door, Forbes came running towards her at full speed and leaped directly into her waiting arms.

“As soon as I heard him meow, I knew it was him,” said Amy. “I was overwhelmed with emotion having him safely back in my arms after so long.”

Amy checked Forbes for a microchip and brought him to the vet to ensure he was healthy after his long disappearance. Luckily the 5-year-old cat was found to be in good condition after surviving over 18 months outdoors.

How Forbes managed to find his way back home after being lost for so long remains a mystery. Amy believes Forbes’ strong attachment to her brought him back after his long adventure. Their special bond and Forbes’ great memory allowed him to navigate the 15 miles home.
